It is the common factor in life. It features in many songs, movies, and self-improvement books / videos. It comes naturally to us and yet sometimes we have to remind ourselves to do it.

So why is it so important to us whether we are athletes, struggling with anxiety, or just trying to find clarity in a situation.

Slow breathing helps us to slow down, take us out of fight or flight, and oxygenates our body while removing toxicity through exhaling. It helps us find our center.

Breathing is simple and yet there are multiple techniques that will produce various effects.

Our culture seems to have rampant amounts of anxiety, stress, and overwhelm, so we will discuss several techniques to help center a person and reduce these symptoms of an internal imbalance.

Slow breathing is one of the keys to reducing stress. It allows our brain to shift to a state where we do not feel we have to make a snap decision, and we have the ability to think things through. It takes us out of fight or flight (controlled by the sympathetic nervous system).

Two quick breaths followed by a slow breath out can trigger the body into a relaxed state as it imitates the effect of a yawn which is a signal that there is no danger in the area.

Breath is life. Breath is peace. When your world is to much, when you don’t know how much more you can take. Stop and Breathe. You can’t change the world but you can change you.
