
Insomnia wears us down, reduces our concentration, and takes the joy in our lives away.
A strong sleep routine goes a long way to getting better sleep and restoring us to the point where we can enjoy life once again.
This is one sleep routine that may help:
1. Establishing consistent sleep habits is very important. Getting up in the morning and going to bed at the same times each morning and night takes discipline but it trains your body to gear up / down at the appropriate times.
2. Set up your sleep environment for sleep: Your bedroom should be cool, quiet and calm. This will enable you to settle your mind and relax before bed
3. Avoid stimulants: drinking coffee, eating chocolate, hot baths (can kick up a person’s circulation), noise, heat, screens, or exciting books / stories all can cause a reaction in the body that releases certain hormones which will reduce your chances of sleeping
4. Practice calming exercises: Qigong, deep breathing, quiet reading, warm baths, or other relaxation exercises.
5. Restrict activities in your bedroom to bedroom activities: This will help your mind to associate the bedroom with sleep.
